HAPPY NEW YEAR!
One of the most amusing series i've ever watched is "My Super Sweet 16" on MTV. It's absolutley amazing how emotional these teenagers and families get about the big "16th Birthday Bash" and coming of age "ceremonies". The families showcased on the show spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on their teenager's birthday parties, that its sickening to watch. One of the most pathetic things i remember from the show was one 16 year-old complaining that the car her father was about to buy for her "wasn't expensive enough" and that when her sister was trying on a dress to buy for the party, that she couldn't buy it because, "she's not allowed to look hotter than me!" Gah! What spoilt brats! Definatley not giving "16" a good name! And to think that all the build up is for a party only lasts for one night! Now that's what i call misguided...
haha! Those kids are definitely more spoiled than I am! For my 18th birthday I went with my family to a Home Canning Seminar, and for my 17th I worked at Allens. woot!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how 17 feels so different from 16? I'm not really sure what it is, but I felt really "old".
(By the way, it is the 4th of January, dear. Just thought I should let you know.)

ReplyDeleteHaha, thanks for remindig me of the date! I guess i didn't look at the calendar, silly me!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny, 17 does sound weird and old, i think 16 has a nicer ring to it. For me it screams youth, freedom, carefreeness, but 17... not so much! idk, guess i'll make the most of being 17, i don't feel like becoming adult- not yet!
And I'm sorry you had to work at Allen's on your birthday, of all places! Hopefully next b'day will be fun... 19! My goodness, now THAT'S old.
You Are funny, Madeleine. So, you're into Shakespear, huh? I'd no idea. Your blog looks great, I'll keep checking it :)
